We are the farthest northwest community in Alaska. We have over 270 students enrolled with 48 full-time employees. We offer classes for Early Childhood (ECE) up through 12th Grade. Tikiġaq is changing rapidly and so is the way of life. We encourage our teachers to join us in the community events and also to take part in them. Tikiġaq is known as a whaling community and does their whale hunt during the spring. Many of our children take part during the whaling season and enjoy learning new things as they progress in their status in the whaling crew.
We encourage the elders and other local people to come share their stories of whaling, caribou hunting, hunting squirrels or any tales or legends. The staff and students would love to have you come and share and invite you to our school. Our phone number is (907)368-5800.
