Greetings Point Hope residents. We are fortunate to now have Lt. Colonel Dr. Brian Alborn and optician Sach Suitt extend their visit to Point Hope to include the rest of this week, with their departure being Friday afternoon.
Office hours are slightly before 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.-- and sometimes later. Nearly all insurance policies are accepted and Dr. Alborn and Mr. Suitt are encouraging all students to get their eyes checked while they are here.
Dr. Alborn is an active Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army volunteering to help Alaskans during his personal vacation. On behalf of Tikigaq School, we thank Dr. Alborn for his service to our nation and his time in our community.
On behalf of the North Slope Borough School District CTE program, we wish to congratulate the following three Tikigaq School middle school students for being accepted into the AMPED on Energy Middle School Intensive program in October: Nicole, Keenan, and Gennie!
We anticipate the following schedule:
18 October: leave Point Hope for Anchorage
19 October: Arrive in Utqiagvik
20-22 October: AMPED on Energy Middle School Intensive
23 October: Return travel to Anchorage
24 October: Return to Point Hope
The coordinator of the CTE program asked to share the following message:
We want to acknowledge the students who applied but were not selected for this intensive. We received close to 70 applicants with a limited enrollment of 18 total slots. Please do not be discouraged. We greatly appreciate your interest in participating in our CTE programs, and we hope to provide additional middle school intensive opportunities in the future. We encourage you to continue watching for upcoming opportunities and to apply again.
It is exciting to see this level of interest from our middle school students, and we appreciate your help in encouraging students to explore CTE and the different career pathways available to them.

Below is a form that will be available for pickup after 9 AM to help speed up the process for visiting Dr. Alborn and Optician Sach Suitt, who are eagerly wanting to examine as many of our students as possible during their stay in Point Hope. They are currently at the town hall today until 8 PM, and will be available to see patients on Monday and Tuesday from 10 AM to 8 PM.
Attention Point Hope Community: from 2:30 PM-8 PM today, and 10 AM Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday Dr. Sach Suitt and his medical partner will have optical services available at the city/town hall for children and adults. Dr. Suitt will work with all children, insured or not, and encourages anyone needing their eyes checked or having optical concerns to please come see him.
Parents taking their children during school hours will have any class time missed excused.
